Michelle Wie is the latest Tour pro to put a square driver in the bag.

She’s using Nike’s Sumo square in the Casio World Open in Japan.

But it didn’t do her much good in the first round yesterday, as she posted her worst score in a mens’ tournament.

The 17-year-old, who has only made the cut once in 12 male events, carded nine bogeys for a nine-over-par 81.

The American said: “It was frustrating but I don’t think it was the pressure. I’m not playing that badly.”

KJ Choi became the first man to win with a square driver earlier this month.
