Ian Poulter practises his putting | Ryder Cup 2008
Last updated:
Ian Poulter practised his putting stroke on the slick practice green at Valhalla golf club yesterday with the help of Ernie Els‘ putting training system.
Ian Poulter attached the unusual-looking training aid to his putter to help lock his forearms together, allowing the shoulders to rock back and forth in a one-piece motion, taking any independent hand action out of the stroke.
European Captain Nick Faldo then stepped in to sharpen Poulter’s short putting by getting him to try a great drill where he took no backstroke and just pushed the putter towards the hole.
This simple drill takes your focus away from what the putter does on the way back and makes you concentrate on the through stroke – the key to holing putts.
