He may be red-hot on the race track but Lewis Hamilton – the new golden boy of Formula One – admits he’s a real slouch when it comes to playing golf.
After successive wins in Canada and America, the multi-talented Hamilton is sitting pretty at the top of the drivers’ championship but the boy racer freely admits he can drive a racing car miles better than he can a golf ball…
“I enjoy playing but I’m pretty terrible at it,” he conceded before pointing out that Tiger Woods is one of his sporting heroes. “He’s a cool dude and I’ve always wanted to meet him. Hopefully that will happen soon,” added Hamilton.
The feeling is mutual too as Woods had plenty of kind words to say about the fast-emerging grand prix star – and that was before Hamilton blew everybody away in Indianapolis yesterday.
Woods however was unable to emulate Hamilton’s victory, having to settle for second best behind Argentinian Angel Cabrera in the US Open at Oakmont. Incidentally, if you do fancy a round Lewis you can always take us on in the prized TG Tenner?
