Forgan of St Andrews announced today the signing of international golfing legend Ian Woosnam, OBE, to represent them on tour. Ian has signed an initial contract of 3½ years and got off to a winning start first time out at the recent Russian Seniors in Moscow.

“When I began our search for a player I wanted to get somebody iconic who had the respect of the golfing public around the world. As soon as I heard Ian was available I knew he was exactly what we were looking for.

“Ian will work closely with us on product development to help keep us at the cutting edge of golf club technology and has been instrumental in making sure the online custom fitting system gives golfers of all standards clubs built to their exact specifications.” said Simon Millington, CEO, Forgan.

Said Woosie: “I’m delighted to be associated with such a respected and innovative brand as Forgan” … “I’m a strong supporter of using custom fitted clubs to improve your game, the online custom fit service from Forgan is remarkable … it’s definitely a step in the right direction for the industry and will allow more golfers to realise their true potential.”

In 1991 Woosie claimed his most famous victory in winning the Masters at Augusta
beating Jose Maria Olazábal by a single shot. He was the first player to win the World Match Play Championship in 3 different decades and has proudly represented Wales in 14 World Cups, winning in 1987.

Having played in 8 Ryder Cups, the pinnacle came when winning as captain in 2006 with Team Europe claiming victory in the competition by a record equaling score of 18½ to 9½ points. This was also the first time Europe had achieved three successive victories.
