Englishman Marcus Higley is joint leader in the European Tour’s Malaysian Open with just one round to go.

The little-known 32-year-old is languishing in 205th on the Order of Merit and only qualified for his Tour card this year after finishing 10th on the Challenge Tour last year.

In tricky conditions the plucky Higley hung on and holed a 40-foot birdie putt on the last to tie Argentinian Ricardo Gonzales on seven under.

Simon Dyson suffered an up and down day but is only two back. Lee Westwood hit a one under 71 and is seven shots back of the leaders.
