Get the feel of the putter shaft, left hand, wrist and forearm all working together.
Although it’s important to release the putter, you don’t want to let your left wrist break down through impact. Assuming you wear a watch on your left wrist, try sliding a pen or ruler inside the strap, then hit a few putts. You’ll notice the pressure of the pen on the back of your left hand during the stroke; this pressure should not increase until after the ball has been hit. The unity of the putter shaft, left hand, wrist and forearm is essential if the putter face is consistently to return square at impact.
