How To Hit A Draw With Soren Hansen

This is the one shot which many high-handicap amateurs struggle the most with, and yet if you think about it just for a moment, it’s actually quite an easy shot to execute.
In this instance, a tree is right in the path of my target, and so I need to draw the ball around it.
Stance
After aiming the clubface I move my feet away from the target, into a closed position.
The Start
I aim the clubface exactly where I want the ball to start…
Normal Swing
I swing along the line of my shoulders and body, and put my normal swing on it. You’ve got to trust the fact that the ball will move, because if you try to manipulate your swing to suit the shot, everything will break down.
Different Draws
You may need several different sorts of draw shots – the soft draw to a tight pin, and the low, running draw off the tee around some trees. To accentuate the draw, just release the hands a little more through impact.
Ball Position
The ball should be in the middle of your stance – if anything, nearer your right foot than your left.
