Splashboard Bunker Drill

When faced with a greenside bunker shot, a lot of amateurs get over-anxious about getting the ball up and out of the sand. They then try and dig down in the sand to get the club underneath the ball, presenting the leading edge of the club.

But as TG Elite Teaching Pro Gareth Johnston explains in this golf video tip, the correct way to get your ball out of sand is to use the bounce of the club, allowing the clubface to glide under the ball. A great way to enhance this feeling is to use a splashboard or an equivalent, as Gareth explains. This will certainly improve your ball-striking from greenside traps.
