Tyrrell Hatton’s wife Emily Braisher has become a familiar face on tour – but who is she, how did they meet, and what happened when she accidentally put him off mid-round by slamming a toilet door?

Tyrrell Hatton is known for his intense, unfiltered presence on the golf course – a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve whether he’s chasing a title or missing a three-footer. But behind the scenes, there’s someone who brings a whole lot of balance, support, and the occasional comedic interruption to his life: his wife, Emily Braisher.

Better late than never

Tyrrell and Emily have been together for several years and got engaged in December 2019. They tied the knot in 2021, with their wedding taking place in Asheville, North Carolina. True to form, the day didn’t go off without some drama.

Hatton actually arrived half an hour late: “It was funny – the day wasn’t very smooth,” said Hatton, who traveled with Emily to Asheville, North Carolina, for their wedding.

“Our driver turned up an hour late, so that meant we arrived half an hour late for our ceremony,” explains Hatton. “And then, because we wanted it in the Blue Ridge Parkway, we wanted to hike up and have some nice pictures. Unfortunately, after finishing the ceremony, it absolutely pissed down with rain, and we then had to drive like two miles down the road, pulled over in a lay-by and we had our wedding pictures on the side of the road. So, yeah, not quite as magical as you’d plan it, I guess, but it was still pretty special.”

Despite the rocky union, it was a heartfelt and private celebration, and since then, the two have been pretty inseparable — often seen traveling together on tour, sharing moments on social media, and generally enjoying life on and off the course.

Who Is Emily Braisher?

Emily is from Buckinghamshire, England, and graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2020 with a degree in Fashion Communication and Promotion.

She put her communication skills to good use by creating a blog called ‘Wife On Tour’, sharing personal reflections and behind-the-scenes snapshots from life on the road with Tyrrell, but no longer maintains it. Clearly confident in their relationship, the blog came before the pair were married – with Emily later explaining ‘Wife On Tour’ had a better ring to it than ‘Girlfriend On Tour’.

She has been known to caddie for Hatton at the Masters Par-3 Contest, where partners often step in for a fun, lighthearted loop.

The time she put him off mid-round

While Emily usually brings calm and support to Hatton’s career, she once unintentionally caused one of his most memorable on-course distractions.

During the 2019 Italian Open, Hatton was mid-swing when a loud slam distracted him, causing him to stop and step off the ball. Looking around to figure out what had just happened, Hatton quickly realized the culprit was none other than Emily, who had unknowingly let the door of a portable toilet bang shut at exactly the wrong moment.

Hatton took it in stride (as much as he ever does) and laughed about it. The moment became a bit of an inside joke between the two, and it’s a great example of how Emily’s presence, even accidentally, adds a human touch to Hatton’s professional life.

While Hatton might make headlines for his temper and tenacity on the golf course, Emily Braisher is the quiet force behind him – equal parts cheerleader, confidante, and comic relief.
