It was a moment that left Tiger Woods’ teammates Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim doubled over in laughter.
Woods, representing Jupiter Links as they took on New York in the ninth match of the TGL season, was given a yardage and, as he has so often in his career, executed it to the number.
The 15-time major champ then looked on in amazement as his ball fell well short of not only the hole but the green altogether.
“What’s he doing?” came the call from off camera as Woods took his shot. “He’s got a wedge?”
Woods looked over at his team in disbelief. “You said ’99 yards’!”
“One ninety-nine!” came the apologetic reply.
It was an understandable crossing of wires, given caddies often drop the first number of a yardage when it’s clear to the player – but it seems that tactic doesn’t quite work in simulator golf.

Still, he saw the funny side when grabbed by the ESPN team following the incident.
“One of the most embarrassing moments in my golfing career just happened,” Woods smiled.
“I just screwed up. That was embarrassing.”
It didn’t matter regardless, as Jupiter Links went down 10-3 to their rivals to fall outside the playoff places in the season standings.
