The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican preview: Field, betting odds and tee times

The Annika Driven by Gainbridge at Pelican is the final regular tournament on the LPGA Tour this season as the race to the CME Globe nears its conclusion.

In total, 31 events were played in 2024, with tournaments held not only in the USA but also across Asia and Europe. Every point will count at the Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican this week, as only the top 60 and ties in the rankings will be eligible to take part in the CME Group Tour Championship, held next week in Florida.

Nelly Korda and Haeran Ryu, first and second in the rankings respectively, won’t have to worry about securing qualification for next week, but there are a host of excellent players hovering about the top 60 bubble.

Indeed, Carlota Ciganda, Ashleigh Buhai and Georgia Hall will need to deliver in the Sunshine State this week if they are to make it through to the season-ending finale.

Before the tournament even gets underway, the Wednesday Pro-Am features some big names, including 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark, who will play alongside Annika Sorenstam – the event host.

Formerly known as the Pelican Championship, the event will take place for the fifth time, yet it already has an impressive history of previous winners.

Korda has won it twice, while 2023 Women’s Open Champion Lilia Vu and Kim Sei-young have each claimed one victory apiece. Last year, Vu added the tournament to her Chevron Championship and AIG Women’s Open crown in what was a very successful year.

Where is the Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican held?

Pelican Golf Club will host the event once again this year. The par-70, 6,349-yard course mirrors Augusta National – just 480 miles to its north – in many ways.

The fairways are wide, some stretching at least 60 yards from edge to edge, while pine straw sits at the base of the trees lining the fairway, giving the players the notion that they could be playing Augusta.

There aren’t many water hazards throughout the 18 holes, rather the course features large, undulated greens as a way of protecting itself from low scores during tournament play. Again, similar to Augusta, several of these putting surfaces have various tiers, placing a premium on accurate approach shots.
