The American Express 2025: Purse and prize money payout at PGA West

How much prize money is on offer at The American Express?

How will the prize money be distributed at The American Express, where Nick Dunlap defends one year on from his record-breaking PGA Tour win?

Nick Dunlap returns to the grounds of PGA West in La Quinta, California where he became the first amateur since Phil Mickelson in 1991 to win on the PGA Tour with his breakthrough victory at The American Express.

His 29-under-par total would have earned the University of Alabama prodigy just over $1.5 million from the $8.4 million purse be it not for his amateur status, with the cash instead falling into the grateful hands of runner-up Christiaan Bezuidenhout.

This year sees the purse creep up once more, albeit by just $100k to $8.5 million with the winner set to take home $1.53 million and 500 FedExCup points. The withdrawals of Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele means The American Express field is wide open with Justin Thomas and Sungjae Im favorites to capitalize in the first event of the West Coast swing.
