Delayed TGL set to tee off without Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy

After a 12-month postponement, the tech-infused TGL golf league has revealed its inaugural schedule for the 2025 season.

Damage last November to the air-supported SoFi Centre in Palm Beach Gardens just weeks before the launch of the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s highly anticipated TGL virtual golf league caused organizers to push back tee times by a whole year.

Now, the state-of-the-art facility is inflated once more, ready to host 15-hole battles between six teams of the PGA Tour’s finest players in a golf simulator series, played out in front of 1,500 fans and a live TV audience.

Between them, TGL’s roster of 24 tour pros have amassed 230 PGA Tour wins, 33 Major titles, and have spent a combined 834 weeks as World No.1.

The inaugural season will premiere on Tuesday, Jan 07, live on ESPN and ESPN+. However, fans will have to wait a further week to see Tiger Woods tee it up on the big screen, while fellow TMRW Sports co-founder Rory McIlroy will not take the stage until Jan 27.

“The six TGL teams will go head-to-head in a season of matches from January through March, bringing team golf to prime time for the first time on a consistent basis, said Mike McCarley, TMRW Sports CEO.

“In partnership with ESPN, our season will complement the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Season with a fast-paced team competition that aims to captivate a wide range of sports fans with elements, like a shot clock, that are familiar to fans of other sports. TGL’s two-hour matches are perfect for prime time and will help bring more fans closer to some of the biggest names in golf.”

Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods will launch their TGL golf league in 2025 after a 12 month delay.

Single matchday tickets will start at $160 at the custom-built arena, aiming to replicate a fan experience akin to sitting courtside at an NBA game or on the glass at an NHL game. The 1,500 fans will be wrapped around TGL’s field of play which is about the size of a football field, featuring a 3,400-square-foot simulator screen that players will hit into from 35 yards out. Once inside 50 yards, players will transition to a 22,475-square-foot short game complex with 600 embedded motorized actuators to morph its topography, transforming the green between holes.

World-renowned golf course designers have custom-designed 30 holes inspired by authentic golf landscapes including links, canyons, coastal, deserts, and tropical settings to uniquely challenge the pros throughout the season.
