Shane Lowry aces another iconic hole! Is his hole-in-one record the best ever?

Surely no one can boast a better hole-in-one list than Shane Lowry

Some people will play golf every week for their entire life and not have a hole-in-one. Some people will have one or two or eight. Then there’s Shane Lowry.

The Irishman holed out for a one on the picturesque 7th hole at Pebble Beach to take his PGA Tour tally to three.

The other two?

The 16th at Augusta National and the 17th at TPC Sawgrass.

A trio of holes as fine and as iconic as any in the world, and Lowry has aced them all.

Let’s take a look at it…

“I’ve been very lucky with all the ones,” Lowry, who used his 54-degree Cleveland RTX 6 wedge for his latest, said after his round.

What’s more, it came just a couple of hours after his close pal and fellow Irishman Rory McIlroy had aced the 15th at Spyglass Hill.

Oh, go on then, let’s watch that one too…

“I guess it’s just the luck of the Irish,” Lowry quipped, before adding: “Mine was definitely better!”

So having had a hole-in-one on three of the best-known par-3 holes in the world, are there any other Lowry would like to ace?

“I was going to say 12 at Augusta, but I’m just happy with pars on that hole,” he joked.

The answer, of course, is the 11th at The Old Course.

“Look,” Lowry added, “any time one goes in is a good time.”

As for any planned celebrations, Lowry said he would be playing it cool as it was a “school night”, though he did hope McIlroy would join his team for dinner so he could “split the bill with him”.

Never change, Shane.
