Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy tee up in Seminole Pro-Member – but how did they get on?

The prestigious event attracts a number of high-profile tour stars – including the GOAT. Here’s how Tiger Woods and others fared at Seminole…

Golf fans a strange lot, aren’t we? It really doesn’t matter what Tiger Woods is up to, whether he’s playing in a major or chipping balls in his back yard, we want to know all about it.

Woods has not played competitively since The Open and is yet to commit to a PGA Tour event this season having decided not to tee up at the Genesis Invitational following the death of his mother, though he has been competing for his Jupiter Links TGL team.

Will we see him before the Masters? Only he knows that at the moment, though he did say he wants to play some “bigger events” this year. (That, you might deduce, only really leaves the Players Championship between now and the next trip down Magnolia Lane given he’s decided not to play in this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.)

One event Woods rarely pulls out of, however, is the Seminole Pro-Member.

The prestigious event – held each March at Seminole Golf Club, near the PGA Tour player real estate hub that is Jupiter, Florida – attracts many of the biggest names in the game. And this year was no different.

Woods pegged it up with Seth Waugh, who has recently left his role as CEO of the PGA of America after six years, while Rory McIlroy played alongside his dad, Gerry, before heading round the corner to the Sofi Center to represent his Boston Common TGL team as they crashed to another defeat in the simulator league.

The Northern Irishman fared slightly better earlier in the day, finishing in a tie for 13th in the Gross event and tied-16th in the Net scores.

Woods and Waugh, meanwhile, finished well down the pack in the Gross, carding a 71 to tie for 54th in the 94-team, 18-hole showdown.

They did slightly better in the Net leaderboard, which takes into account the amateur competitors’ handicaps, where they finished in a tie for 26th.

Congratulations to Billy Horschel and playing partner Bill Davis, who carded a 64 and edged out Ryan Fox and Jimmy Dunne III in a scorecard playoff for the Gross title.

It was better news for Fox and Dunne in the Net scores, though, with the pair carding a 61 to pip Corey Conners and Peter Broome by a single shot.
