Sanderson Farms Championship Preview: Field, betting odds, tee times, and how to watch

The PGA Tour is down in Mississippi for the second event of the FedEx Cup Fall Series

The Sanderson Farms Championship is the second of eight events on the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Fall series, which runs until the end of November.

The event gives those who finished outside the FedEx top 50 the opportunity to win vital points between now and the end of the year as they seek to improve their playing privileges for 2025.

The top 125 will be eligible for the regular PGA Tour events next season, while also securing a place at the Players Championship. Those who finish between 51-60 after the eight Fall series events will also gain access to the AT&T National Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Genesis Invitational in 2025.

Players ranked inside the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings are still free to play, but they can’t earn any points. Collin Morikawa, Tom Kim, and Sahith Theegala all won an event in the 2023 FedEx Cup Fall series, but none of them earned any points for their victories because of their rankings.

Players ranked between 126-150 will have Korn Ferry Tour status and conditional PGA Tour status for 2025.

Michael Thorbjornsen, who became the second player after Ludvig Aberg to reach the PGA Tour via finishing on top of the 2024 PGA Tour University rankings, is currently ranked 134th heading into the Sanderson Farms Championship. The American needs a productive week in Mississippi to propel himself up the standings.

Former US Open Champion Webb Simpson faces a battle to retain his PGA Tour card, while four-time winner on tour, Daniel Berger and 2018 winner Cameron Champ also require big finishes in the coming weeks to secure their playing privileges for next year.

Luke List won the 2023 event after draining a 45-foot birdie putt in a five-way playoff to claim his second PGA Tour victory.

An Eagle on the par-4 16th at Kinghorn is one that stands out (it doesn’t matter that it was only 290 yards).
