2025 Porsche Singapore Classic betting tips: Our expert’s top picks for the DP World Tour event

Our resident betting expert picks out his top Porsche Singapore Classic betting tips as the DP World Tour begins its Asian Swing.

The DP World Tour begins its Asian Swing this week with the Porsche Singapore Classic following an eight-event stint in the Middle East and Africa.

Last year saw Sweden’s Jesper Svensson emerge victorious at Laguna National, taming ‘The Beast’ – regarded as one of the most challenging golf courses in Asia. It features 14 bunkers, five water features, and very undulating green complexes.

Svensson got the better of Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat on the third playoff hole to claim his first victory on the DP World Tour and the $425,000 winner’s cheque.

Before diving into my betting tips for the week, here’s everything else you need to know…

Porsche Singapore Classic betting tips

The Banker: Sam Bairstow 40/1 e/w (7 Places Betfair)

Sam Bairstow had a chance to win this event last year and at one point had a 4-shot lead over the chasing pack, but he just missed out on the playoff by one shot, settling for a T3 finish. This has somewhat been the story of his DP World Tour career so far, but we have to be encouraged by the number of chances he’s already had in a short period.

Eventually if you keep knocking on the door, chances are you will eventually walk through it, and I fully expect Bairstow to do so this season. So where better than the course and event, where he had such a great chance last year.

Bairstow’s approach play could have been slightly better 12 months ago, but he drove it well and putted the best of anyone in the top 5 of the leaderboard, and it’s that deadly combination that can put him in contention again this week.

Since finishing 77th in his first event of 2025, Bairstow has reeled off five straight finishes of 32nd or better, included three straight top 11 finishes.

There is no doubt that Bairstow struggles to finish off when in contention, the most recent example, was when he was 2nd after rounds 1 and 2 at the South African Open, and then shot 77 in what was the third and final round that week, but I am convinced he will get over the line soon enough.

At 40/1, I think Sunday struggles are more than baked in, and instead, we should focus on the wicked mix of course and current form.

The Outsider: Daniel Brown 55/1 e/w (7 Places Paddy Power)

Daniel Brown has been in good form of late, finishing 27th or better in four straight events, including a 2nd when losing in a playoff in Bahrain.

Form in Bahrain has correlated nicely with success here, with Jesper Svensson winning this event 12 months ago, after finishing runner-up in Bahrain, something Brown will hope to emulate, and there is other examples of players playing nicely across both events – including Ockie Strydom who won here in 2023 and finished 4th in Bahrain, and Alejandro Del Rey who has two top 7s here and was inside the top 5 in Bahrain a year ago before falling away.

Brown has played here twice before, finishing 38th on debut and missing the cut last year, but he looks better prepared this time around and I like the odds.

Ball striking-wise, Brown has ranked 13th, 6th, and 22nd in SG Approach in his past three events, and 16th, 6th, and 9th in SG Tee to Green, so he looks ready to put it all together here.

The Longshot: Callum Tarren 150/1 e/w (7 Places Paddy Power)

Callum Tarren is playing consistently on the DP World Tour this season, due to his FedEx Cup finish on the PGA Tour last season. The results so far have been a mixed bag, but on two occasions already in 2025, he’s shown plenty of potential.

Chief among that form is when Tarren finished 8th in Bahrain, an event we have already flagged as a potential correlation, and that week he was 2nd after round 1, led after rounds 2 and 3, and then eventually finished 8th. Of course we would have hoped for a better Sunday from the Englishman, but that is why he’s the price he is, and his play since suggests he’s worth chancing.

Since his strong run at the Bahrain Championship, Tarren has also finished 14th at the Joburg Open, his most recent event, and like the Bahrain Championship, the result promised to be better. 3rd after round 1 and 5th after round 2, Tarren was in a good spot to contend again, this time in South Africa, but a tough weekend saw him fall away. There is reason for concern when this has happened twice already in 2025, but not everyone can push forward on the weekend, and I suspect Tarren’s time will come from a similar position soon.

Tarren hasn’t done much winning as a professional, but he did win in Asia back in 2017, as he won on the China Tour. He played a lot of golf here earlier in his career, and I could see this serving him well here at this event.

In addition to his win in China, Tarren’s two starts on the Asia Tour yielded finishes of 4th and 12th, so I can see him enjoying a return to this region.
