2025 Players Championship prize money: How much every player will earn at TPC Sawgrass
Last updated:

Here’s how the 2025 Players Championship prize money will be split when golf’s finest assemble at the PGA Tour’s flagship event.
Last year’s 50th Players Championship saw Scottie Scheffler become the first player to successfully defend the tournament regarded by many as golf’s fifth major.
His one-shot victory over Ryder Cup teammates Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, and Xander Schauffele earned the World No.1 a second successive winner’s cheque of $4.5m at TPC Sawgrass – the most lucrative payday on the PGA Tour outside of the FedEx Cup title decider at the Tour Championship.
Today’s mammoth $25m purse is $24.75m more than was on offer at the event’s first playing in 1974 when Jack Nicklaus won the title and $50,000 in prize money. The purse reached the $1m mark in 1987, when Sandy Lyle was the victor and received $180,000, and reached $10m in 2014 when Martin Kaymer was paid $1.8m.

The Players prize fund has doubled since Rory McIlroy’s win in 2019 when he received $2.25m, and has jumped another $10m since 2021 when Justin Thomas won and increased his bank balance by $2.7m. At $25m, The Players Championship purse is bigger than the prize fund at the US Open, which has the biggest payout of the four men’s Majors at $20m.
The top five finishers this year are set to take home a minimum of $1m with the player finishing last of those to have made the cut still pocketing a healthy $53,750. Here’s how the rest of the prize money is set to be split when the 144-man field tee it up for the 51st Players Championship…
