Sony Open 2025: Full prize money payout as Nick Taylor wins in dramatic playoff

Nick Taylor claimed a fifth PGA Tour title at the 2025 Sony Open.

How much did every player win at the Sony Open from the $8.7 million PGA Tour purse?

Canada’s Nick Taylor snatched the $1,566,000 winner’s cheque at the Sony Open in Honolulu after forcing his way to an unlikely clubhouse lead with a 59-foot chip-in for eagle on the 18th hole at the Waialae Country Club.

The perfectly judged chip leapfrogged Taylor to 16-under par, ahead of Stephen Jaeger and J.J. Spaun, who had to settle for a share of third. Only Nico Echavarria of Columbia could match Taylor’s 72-hole total, ensuring the PGA Tour’s first playoff of 2025. Both players birdied the first playoff hole before Taylor got up and down for back-to-back birdies, with Echavarria three-putting his way to a runner’s-up finish.

The dramatic win was a fifth for Taylor on the PGA Tour and a third via a playoff. His last victory came at the 2024 WM Phoenix Open, and before that the 2023 Canadian Open, where Taylor became the first home player to win their National Open since 1954.

Nick Taylor won his home national open at the RBC Canadian Open in 2023.
