Myrtle Beach Classic 2024: Preview, betting odds, tee times, and how to watch the inaugural event

Everything you need to know about the first-ever Myrtle Beach Classic as the PGA Tour debuts on the Grand Strand.

Myrtle Beach hosts the first PGA Tour event in its history, bringing professional golf to America’s favorite traveling golf destination, long known as ‘The Golf Capital of the World’.

It’s the third of five opposite-field events on the PGA Tour in 2024 with the PGA Tour’s big-ticket names playing north of the border this week in Charlotte, North Carolina for a cut of the $20 million Signature Event purse at the Wells Fargo Championship.

There is still plenty of horse-power in the field though, notably the in-form Billy Horschel who won the last ‘alternate’ field event in the Dominican Republic two weeks ago. There are currently 38 PGA Tour winners in the tournament, including Erik van Rooyen and Brandt Snedeker.

Where is the Myrtle Beach Classic played?

The inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic will be played at the par-71 Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Sweeps beautifully along the Atlantic Ocean, the Robert Trent Jones-designed Dunes ranks highly in Golf World’s Top 100 Courses in the USA.

When Trent Jones arrived at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, north along the coast from the small settlement of Myrtle Beach, first incorporated as a town in 1938, the site was open and sandy with a few oaks and the odd lagoon dotted about. The area developed rapidly in the second half of the last century, so the course is now surrounded by suburbia on two sides with the ocean to the south and Buck Island Swamp to the east.

Though the Dunes came early in a career spanning 60-plus years, it would remain one of Trent Jones’s best courses, and the 13th – a 590-yard par 5 named ‘Boomerang’ – sweeps right around Dunes Lake is perhaps his most famous hole.
