She’s the best female golfer on the planet right now, but who is Nelly Korda’s boyfriend?

Despite being from a remarkable sporting family, Nelly Korda tends to keep her private life just that.

The two-time major champion is the daughter of tennis stars Petr Korda, who won the Australian Open in 1998, and Regina Rajchrtova. Her brother, Sebastian, followed in their parents’ footsteps, and you all know her sister, Jessica, a six-time LPGA winner and Solheim Cup star.

Who is Nelly Korda’s boyfriend?

The younger Korda sister is in a relationship with Canadian ice hockey player Andreas Athanasiou. The pair reportedly met in 2019 and have been together since.

Born in Ontario in August 1994, Athanasiou is of Greek and Guyanese descent.

Four years older than Korda, he has played for the Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks in a 10-year career in the NHL.

The pair tend to keep their relationship private and do not post on social media about each other.

But shortly after Athanasiou signed for the Blackhawks in a $3m deal, he was in attendance at the Canadia Women’s Open when Korda wore the team’s jersey on the opening day of the tournament.

Athanasiou was also in attendance when Korda won the Meijer LPGA Classic at Blythefield Country Club in Michigan in 2021. A week later she made her major breakthrough at the Women’s PGA Championship.

“It’s pretty fun, it’s nerve-wracking,” he told reporters when asked what it was like to watch Korda in action.

“I don’t really like watching, I get pretty nervous behind the shot.”

The couple also play golf together.

“I can take her maybe on a 9 [hole course],” he joked. “But by 18 I think I’d blow up too many times to even come close.”
