Check out these new Callaway prototype irons that have got Min Woo Lee cooking

A custom set of prototype irons from Callaway has made Min Woo Lee the talk of the tour right now – and for good reason.
The world of golf equipment is having a moment right now. Shane Lowry can’t find a driver he trusts, Rory McIlroy can’t get comfortable with TaylorMade’s new Qi35 driver, and Wyndham Clark can’t stop experimenting with different Odyssey Jailbird putters.
It’s getting to the stage now where it’s becoming fashionable to change clubs almost every week, which is good news for equipment manufacturers, and less so for our wallets.
The amount of new product releases means we really are spoilt for choice, though we’d argue that Min Woo Lee is gaming some of the best-looking clubs in the game right now – and half of them are not even available at retail.

Throughout the 2024 season, when he finished runner-up twice on the PGA Tour, the 26-year-old Aussie was using a set of Callaway Apex MB blade irons, alongside a Callaway X Forged UT 19-degree driving iron and the Callaway Paradym driver, which had been in the bag since 2023.
Only the driving iron remains from last season, with the Elyte driver and fairway woods, the latest models from Callaway, getting the call-up alongside some seriously slick prototype blades (3-10) which have never been seen before.
Callaway and ‘The Chef’ are staying tight-lipped on how the irons came to be, or how many have been produced, but we’re holding out hope that they’re not just a one-off.
Thanks to some brilliant detective work from Golf WRX, we can see that the irons have little offset and a very thin topline, with only the Callaway logo on the muscle and the words ‘Apex Forged’ stamped onto the hosels.
They do look like a serious challenge to hit for anyone who doesn’t own a tour card but in the hands of someone like Lee, we can certainly see the appeal. They look sensational.
He currently sits one back of the lead after the first round of the Players Championship, so clearly the irons are working well for him so far. We might even be able to get him to share some details if he makes it to the winner’s press conference come Sunday.
