Men’s Olympic Golf 2024: Final round tee times as Rahm, Schauffele share lead with Fleetwood chasing

Tee times and groups for Sunday’s final round of the men’s Olympic Golf Tournament revealed as Spain’s Jon Rahm aims to hold off USA’s defending champion Xander Schauffele and Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood for gold at Paris 2024.

We’re heading for a super Sunday Olympic Golf showdown at Le Golf National with the top of the men’s leaderboard as exciting as anything we’ve seen in the Majors or on the Tours in 2024.

Rahm, off the back of his win at LIV Golf UK, is tied at the top at 12-under alongside Schauffele, the man who is defending the Olympic title and who has won two of the last three men’s Majors.

Fleetwood, who has won the French Open and enjoyed a stunning Ryder Cup debut here in 2012, is just a shot back in the bronze medal position as he looks to secure a second gold medal in three Olympic Golf events for British players after Justin Rose took the top prize in 2016.

But below them are a host of huge stars all hoping to find their way onto the podium, including Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Hideki Matsuyama, Nicolai Hojgaard, Ludvig Aberg, and Jason Day.

McIlroy, representing Ireland, fired a moving day 66 to match Rahm’s score and sit just four back of the lead. Matsuyama, the 2021 Masters champion, is three back at 11-under alongside Denmark’s Hojgaard who produced the round of the week – a nine-under 62 shooting him into medal contention.

World No.1 Scheffler, battling for player of the year honors with Schauffele, shot 67 to sit four back alongside McIlroy, Belgium’s Thomas Detry, and his close friend Tom Kim.

For South Korean star Kim, a place on the podium would mean exemption from military service in his homeland as well as a medal.

The 60-man field will be down to 59 for Sunday’s final round with Britain’s Matt Fitzpatrick withdrawing after 54 holes. The former US Open champion endured an awful day while struggling with a thumb strain, shooting a 10-over 81 to slide from five-under to five-over and well out of contention.

Home favorite Matthieu Pavon also had a day to forget. The Frenchman signed for a six-over 77 and props up the field at 10-over for the week. Fellow Frenchman Victor Perez has an outside chance of a medal, sitting five back of Fleetwood at eight-under in a tie for 13th place.
