LIV Golf UK by JCB preview: field | course | betting odds | tee times | how to watch

Everything you need to know about the UK’s only LIV Golf event in 2024.

The LIV Golf Series returns this week for the 11th event of the season as the United Kingdom plays host for the first and only time in 2024.

In June 2022, the inaugural tournament was held at Centurian Club, just 24 miles north-west of London as the Greg Norman-fronted breakaway league began its ascent to disrupt the professional game.

Fast-forward two years later, the series has expanded rapidly. Centurian held the LIV Golf UK event last year, but 2024 will see JCB Golf and Country Club host the event for the very first time, located in Rocester.

Jon Rahm was the best-placed LIV golfer at The Open

While Bryson DeChambeau became the first LIV player since Brooks Koepka to win a Major Championship at the US Open, the highest player from the LIV series at Royal Troon was Jon Rahm, who finished in a tie for seventh place. He was also the only LIV golfer to score under par for the week on the Ayrshire coast.

This year marks the start of a multi-year partnership with LIV and JCB, hence the move from Centurion Club.

There are just two events left on the schedule after this week – Greenbrier and Chicago – before the LIV Golf Team Championship, which will be held in Dallas.

Sergio Garcia won LIV Golf Andalucia

Last time out, Sergio Garcia finally claimed his maiden LIV Golf Series victory, prevailing in a playoff against Anirban Lahiri after both players finished at 5-under for the tournament.

The win was made even more special for the 2017 Masters champion as the event took place at Valderrama, a course on which he won the Andalucia Masters three times between 2011 and 2018.

What is the format of LIV Golf UK?

With the addition of a 13th franchise – Rahm’s Legion XIII, the 2024 field rises to 54 players, inclusive of the two wildcard players – Anthony Kim and Hudson Swafford, who compete as unsigned individuals.

The team-assigned players compete in two competitions simultaneously- an individual event and a team event. Each stroke counts in the individual event, whereas in the team event, only the combined scores of the team’s top three players count for rounds 1 & 2, with all four scores counting in the final round of each event.

Each event is played over 54 holes, with no cuts and shotgun starts. For more information, check out our LIV Golf: Everything You Need to Know page.

The JCB Club is one of the best golf courses in the UK and Ireland.

Where is LIV Golf UK played?

The JCB Golf and Country Club will host the event for the first time. The par-72, 7308-yard course was only opened in 2018, designed by Robin Hiseman and will present a tough challenge this week.

The 17th is the signature hole. The 255-yard par-3 hole sits on a converted island on one of the lakes and could play a crucial part when the leaders are coming down the stretch.

If that wasn’t difficult enough, the 18th features a green guarded heavily by four intimidating bunkers, while the three-tier putting surface could see many players blow their chances right at the death.

How much does the LIV Golf UK winner receive?

Like every other event in the 2024 season, LIV Golf Singapore has a $25m prize purse – $20m assigned to the individual event and $5m for the team competition – with the winner receiving $4m while $50,000 will be won by those finishing towards the bottom of the leaderboard.

Only the top three teams will receive prize money in each event. The winners will earn their team $3 million, with $1.5 million and $500k earned by the second and third-placed teams respectively.

Despite first picking up a club aged 11, highlights are few and far between on the golf course.

An Eagle on the par-4 16th at Kinghorn is one that stands out (it doesn’t matter that it was only 290 yards).
