Those Bryson DeChambeau rumors? The LIV Golf star has settled the score

Bryson DeChambeau has been the subject of rumors about wanting to leave LIV Golf and return to the PGA Tour.

Bryson DeChambeau has been the subject of social media whispers in recent weeks. So, does he want to return to the PGA Tour? Here’s what he had to say…

As the saying goes: “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.”

(Those of us of a certain vintage will remember a simpler time when it was just those with editorial power at a red-top who could stir this sort of social mischief. Now it’s anyone with access to WiFi.)

It started, as it so often does, with a post on X.

“Breaking!” it screamed. “Bryson DeChambeau has NOT agreed to an extension with LIV Golf and is expected to rejoin the PGA Tour after this season.

“Bryson was looking for a $280 million extension, which PIF rejected.”

The post, as the kids say, went viral. And, such is the world in which we live today, you say something with enough confidence, and enough gusto, plenty of people will believe it – regardless of whether or not you have anything to back up your claims. You tell a lie enough times, and eventually you’ll start to believe it yourself.

DeChambeau has stayed quiet on the matter, presumably enjoying his downtime between LIV Golf events, but he’s savvy enough to know this was going on. It must be strange knowing you have all the knowledge while the online world bickers about your future. It must be, dare we say it, fun?

And that was the sense when DeChambeau put himself in front of the microphone ahead of this week’s LIV Golf tournament in Hong Kong.

When the reporter noted that “there have been various headlines around the world in the last few days about you”, DeChambeau, with that cheeky, boyish grin, quipped: “Like what?”

But DeChambeau is also very proud of his role as one of the most high-profile ambassadors in the game, and it was clear he was keen to put all this to bed.

“No,” he added, with a “but seriously” tone in his voice. “I’m very excited about the future of LIV Golf. I’m very excited to be the captain of the Crushers and continue our legacy that we’re starting to create.

“That’s my goal, to create this lasting legacy where we impact millions and millions of golfers’ lives around the world.

“That should tell you everything you should know.”

Then, on the future of the league, he added: “I continue to see LIV Golf growing. It’s going to grow at an exponentiating pace for years to come, and we aren’t going anywhere.”

So that’s that.

Don’t believe everything you read on the internet, folks.
