Former LIV CEO Greg Norman won’t be out of work for long when his contract with the Saudi-funded league is up

Greg Norman has wasted no time in finding himself a new job when his time at LIV Golf comes to an end.

The Australian was replaced by Scott O’Neil as the league’s CEO and commissioner last month, a position he held since LIV’s formation in 2022, and although his contract will run until August, Norman has insisted he will stay on in some capacity.

He will also turn his attentions to his homeland.

Brisbane, Australia’s third biggest city on the country’s east coast, will host the 2032 Olympics, and Norman will serve as an independent director on the board of the organizing committee as the Games return to the southern hemisphere for just the fourth time.

“While I wish I could wind the clock back four decades and compete in 2032, it is a privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games,” the two-time Open champion said in a statement. “In my youth in the 70s, I worked in the golf shop at Royal Queensland, and now that course will be the home of golf at Brisbane 2032.

“As a proud Queenslander, it is an honor and privilege to help shape the Brisbane Games. We will prove our credentials as world leaders in events, sport and hospitality and create an incredible legacy for this state.”

Committee president Andrew Liveris says he is “absolutely delighted” to have his country’s most successful golfer on his board.

He added: “What better Australian sports brand is there than Greg Norman? What better Queensland sports brand than Greg Norman? He will help put our state and our city on the global map over the next seven years.”
