DP World Tour Championship 2024: Prize Money Payout
Last updated:
How much of the $10 million DP World Tour Championship prize fund did Rory McIlroy take home?
It’s curtains close at the end of another wonderful season on the DP World Tour. The 2024 season culminated at the DP World Tour Championship, which saw Rory McIlroy emerge victorious, earning him his sixth Race to Dubai title in stunning fashion.
The top 50 in the Race to Dubai rankings battled it out for a share of $10m. McIlroy only had one challenger between him and the Harry Vardon Trophy, Thirston Lawrence (although he was 1,785.02 points behind, it was still mathematically possible).
The Northern Irishman’s emotional victory sees him match the great Seve Ballesteros with six Race to Dubai titles (Order of Merit in Seve’s day). Only one man has more than Seve and Rory, Collin Montgomerie, who has eight. McIlroy has made winning the Race to Dubai title a priority of his having won it for the last three years, and he’ll have aspirations of matching and breaking Montgomerie’s record.
McIlroy won the tournament with a score of 15-under par. For his victory, McIlroay was awarded with a 30% share of the total prize fund – $3m. Also, he received 2,000 Race to Dubai points and 2,000 Ryder Cup points – although I don’t think anyone believes McIlroy wouldn’t make Luke Donald’s team for Bethpage Black without those extra points.
The Northern Irishman became the first golfer since Collin Morikawa, in 2021, to win the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai title. It’s the third time that Rory has won both the tournament and the R2D title.
Below is a breakdown of how the prize money has been shared among the 50 players who participated in the DP World Tour Championship.
