Who’s in the field for the 2024 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth

Rory McIlroy and a host of European Ryder Cup stars headline a stellar field at Wentworth for the BMW PGA Championship.

The BMW PGA Championship marks the fourth event on the DP World Tour’s ‘Back 9’ swing, and once again takes pride of place in European golf’s calendar with its Rolex Series status.

A year ago, European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald used the historic event as a vital dress rehearsal before embarking on Marco Simone in what turned out to be an emphatic victory for the men in blue and gold. And while the next installment of golf’s greatest competition remains 12 months away, Donald and 2025’s hopefuls will already be looking to throw down an early selection marker at the Wentworth Club.

Nine of the victorious band of brothers from Rome will tee it up at the famous Virginia Water course, with only Ludvig Aberg due to injury, and LIV Golf defectors Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton missing the reunion. Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, Sepp Straka, Robert MacIntyre, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose, and Nicolai Hojgaard will feature at the flagship event once again, as will captain Donald – a two-time champion himself.

New Zealand’s Ryan Fox returns as defending champion, alongside former World No.1 Adam Scott who is enjoying a strong end to the season after his T4 finish at the Tour Championship. Matt Wallace joins the field fresh from his first DP World Tour win at the Omega European Masters, and will look to keep the momentum going at his home club.

Contenders from this year’s Open at Troon – Thriston Lawrence, Billy Horschel, and Daniel Brown take their places in the field, with England’s Aaron Rai also teeing it up after a breakthrough season on the PGA Tour that saw him win a maiden title and finish T23 in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Horschel – Champion from 2021, will be joined by fellow Americans Will Zalatoris, Peter Malnati, and Mark Hubbard.
