2025 AIG Women’s Open prize money: How much is up for grabs at Royal Porthcawl?
Last updated:
Here’s the full breakdown of the 2025 AIG Women’s Open prize money and how the purse evolved over the years…
The AIG Women’s Open is currently the third highest-paying major in women’s golf, trailing behind the US Open’s record $12 million purse and the KPMG PGA Championship’s $10.4 million.
The total prize fund for the 2025 tournament is $9.75 million, an increase of $250,000 on the $9.5 million purse at the 2024 AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews.
In 2023, the prize fund saw a substantial 23% jump from $7.3 million in 2022. Although still smaller than the $17 million Open Championship purse at Royal Portrush this year, the women’s prize fund has grown significantly, nearly tripling since 2018 when Georgia Hall won at Royal Lytham & St Annes. Title sponsor AIG boosted the fund by $1.25 million in 2019 after several years of little change. The prize fund first hit $1 million in 1998, evolving from just £500 in 1976.

In 2024, the Evian and Chevron Championships offered purses of $8 million and $7.9 million, respectively. Lilia Vu earned $1.35 million for her win at Walton Heath, only the second time the winner’s prize surpassed $1 million, and still $1.75 million less than Xander Schauffele’s Royal Troon payout in 2024.
When the AIG Women’s Open last took place at St Andrews in 2013, Stacy Lewis earned just over $400,000 from a $2.75 million fund. Lydia Ko, the 2024 champion, received $1.42 million, representing 15% of the total purse.
