Omega Dubai Desert Classic: TV Times and Betting Tips 

After Lee Westwood picked up the 25th European Tour victory of his career in Abu Dhabi last week, the European Tour heads to its second event in the desert swing; the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. 

Last year, Bryson DeChambeau produced a closing 64 to claim the 30th edition of the contest by a convincing seven shots, and returns as part of a field littered with former champions – including Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garica, Rafa Cabera Bello and Danny Willett. 

Also in the field are last week’s runner-ups Matthew Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood, who closed out his week in Dubai with a nine-under 63 on his 29th birthday.

Omega Dubai Desert Classic: Betting Tips

Tommy Fleetwood: 7/1
Fleetwood ended last season with a win at the Nedbank Golf Challenge and runner-up finish at the DP World Tour Championship before taking the remainder of the year off, but showed up last week to add another 2nd place to his resume following a final round nine-under 63. He’ll be hoping to carry over that form to Emirates GC this week, a place where he’s finished T16 (’19) and T6 (’18) the last two years. 

Matthew Fitzpatrick: 10/1
Fitzpatrick recorded his 5th runner-up finish in the last 12 months in Abu Dhabi last week, marking his fourth top 10 in a row. T16 here last year, with a best of T5 in 2017. 

Louis Oosthuizen: 11/1
Continued his strong run of form in recent weeks by adding a 5th place finish in Abu Dhabi to his back-to-back runner-ups at the Emirates Australian Open and South African. He’s finished outside the top 20 just once in his last 12 starts worldwide and will be hoping to turn his fortunes around here, having missed the cut in both of his last appearances (’18,’16). 

Henrik Stenson: 18/1
Stenson skipped the first of the desert swing in Abu Dhabi last week, following up his Hero World Challenge victory with a 23rd place at the SMBC Singapore Open instead. He now heads to Dubai, which is a place he has historically performed well at: A victory in 2007 and three top 10s in his last four starts here – including a runner-up finish in 2018.  

Sergio Garcia: 20/1
Garcia returned to action last week with some major news: He’s no longer contracted to play Callaway golf clubs. But he looked confident with his mixed bag of equipment, finishing in a tie for 8th in his first Tour start of 2020 after going T6 in Dubai and missing the cut at the Emirates Australian Open. Won here in 2017 before going on to win the Masters, and was T3 in 2019. 

Rafa Caberera Bello: 30/1
The 2012 champion is searching for his first win since the 2017 Scottish Open and heads to Dubai following a T12 in Abu Dhabi, which came after he ended the season with a T20 in Dubai in November. He missed the cut here last year, but was the runner-up in 2016, T11 in 2017 and T6 in 2018. 

Paul Waring: 40/1
Flying under the radar heading in to this event, but Waring has finished inside the top 30 in his last 11 Tour events in a row – including a T12 last week in Abu Dhabi in his first start of 2020. He also finished T3 at this tournament last year. 

Andy Sullivan: 50/1
After finishing his season off with a T10 at the DP World Tour Championship, Andy Sullivan started 2020 with a T6 at the South African Open and T21 in Abu Dhabi. He’s definitely one to watch this week, despite a mixed set of results in the past few years: He was T6 here in 2018 and finished runner-up in 2016, but missed the cut in 2017 and 2019.
