Open de Espana: Betting Tips
Jon Rahm: 3/1
Rahm is the highest ranked player in the field and the defending champion – even if the event is being played a different golf course. MC last week at the Dunhill but wouldn’t let that put you off, given that he’s had seven top 10s (including a victory) and no worse than T13 in his previous nine starts worldwide. Ranks 2nd for birdie average and 4th for stroke average on the European Tour.
Sergio Garcia: 6/1
Claimed the KLM Open for his first victory since the 2017 Masters in his last start on the European Tour, so will be full of confidence, having been T23 in his previous start at the Omega European Masters. Won this event back in 2002 when it was held at Valderrama. Ranks 1st SG: Off the tee and SG: Approach the green, 6th SG: Tee to green and 13th for stroke average in Europe.
Rafa Cabrera Bello: 10/1
The Spaniard followed up a T6 (one of five top 10s this year) at the BMW International Open with a T63 at the Dunhill Links, and is looking for his first win since the 2017 Scottish Open. Has a mixed set of results in this tournament with a best of T6 back in 2009, and he’s had two other top 20s. Ranks 6th SG: Around the green, 7th for stroke average and 8th for birdies.
Haotong Li: 14/1
Li made his first start since the WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational at the BMW Championship, and followed it up with a T23 at last week’s Dunhill Links. The two-time European Tour winner is making his debut this week. Ranks 3rd SG: Off the tee, 4th for birdies and 6th for Stroke average
Andrea Pavan: 16/1
Finished T10 last week in Scotland. It was his second top 10 in his last five starts, which also includes a T12 at the Omega European Masters and T16 at the Scandinavian Invitation. T21 in this event last year. Ranks 15th for GIR and inside the top 40 on the European Tour for Stroke average, birdies, and SG: Approach the green.
Callum Shinkwin: 50/1
A man in form after back to back top 10s at the KLM Open (5th) and the Dunhill Links (T10) heading in to this week. He was also T28 in this event last year, and ranks 2nd SG: Off the tee.
Miguel Angel Jimenez: 100/1
T23-T31 in his last two starts on the European Tour are encouraging, and he finished T2 last time he played in his home Open in 2015, having won the previous year. He’s also had four top 10s in his last five starts on the PGA Champions Tour.
