European Tour allow players to wear shorts on tournament days for the first time

For the first time in golf’s history, the European Tour and Sunshine Tour are allowing players to compete in shorts on tournament days this week
Due to the hot weather in South Africa this week – the site of the Alfred Dunhill Championship – the European Tour and Sunshine Tour have agreed to permit players to wear shorts on all four tournament days for the first time.
The Tour has allowed players to wear shorts for practice rounds since 2016 – something the PGA Tour also took up earlier this year – but have extended it to tournament days for the first time this week at Leopard Creek.
Temperatures are set to reach highs of 38 degrees celcius on Saturday.
2018 Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn was one a number of players to applaud the decision on social media.
But while the decision was welcomed by the players, don’t expect everyone to take the Tour up on the offer. England’s Dale Whitnell, who gained his card at Tour school last week, is one of the ones keen to keep his legs hidden from view.
