Charles Schwab Challenge: Betting Tips and how to watch on TV in the UK
A strong field tees up at Colonial Country Club this week as the PGA Tour heads back to Texas for the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Justin Rose captured victory last year at Colonial CC, which is the longest-running host of any non-major, and returns this week as one of six of the world’s top 11 players in the field.
With Jordan Spieth back in form and returning to a course where he’s had a lot of success, there’s plenty of eyes on the Texas native this week, while others will look to the likes of Jon Rahm – who has had back to back top 10s here.
Also in the field are the likes of Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Francesco Molinari and Paul Casey, but who should you back? Read on below to find out who is in our top 10 tips for this week.

Charles Schwab Challenge: Betting Tips
Justin Rose: 8/1
The defending champ claimed the Farmers Insurance Open earlier this year and recovered from a MC at the Masters with a T3 at Wells Fargo and T29 at last week’s PGA. Won here last year in first appearance since 2010. Ranks 8th for both scoring average and SG: Putting, 12th for birdie average, 14th SG: Approach the green and 23rd SG: Tee to green.
Jon Rahm: 10/1
Was a bit of a shock when Rahm missed the cut last week, but he’d been on an excellent run before that which includes eight top 10s from 12 starts in 2019. He’ll be hoping to re-start that form at Colonial, where he has gone T2 (’17) and T5 (’18) the past two years. Ranks 3rd SG: Off the tee, 17th for birdie average and 18th for scoring average.
Rickie Fowler: 11/1
Followed back-to-back top 10s at the Masters and Wells Fargo with a disappointing Sunday at the PGA to end up T36, but he’s still had four top 10s and a victory this year. T14 here last year, and ranks 7th scoring average, 10th SG: Putting and 15th for birdie average on the PGA Tour.
Jordan Spieth: 12/1
Spieth led the field in SG: Putting by over 10 shots at the PGA last week for his first top 10 finish since the Open last year – and the slump officially looks over. He also won here in 2016, has two runner-up finishes (’15 and ’17), and was T32 last year, leading the field here since his debut in 2013 in scoring average, score to par, birdies/eagles made and rounds of 67 or lower. Ranks 11th SG: Putting and 18th for birdie average on Tour this season.
Xander Schauffele: 14/1
A T16 at the PGA was a continuation of his impressive major form that saw him finish runner-up at the Masters – which was his third top 10 of the year (including a win at the Sentry Tournament of Champions). Only doubt over Schauffele is that in two starts here has gone T48-MC. Ranks 14th scoring average, 18th birdie average, 19th SG: Tee to green and 24th for both GIR and SG: Approach.
Paul Casey: 20/1
T29 last week and three top 10s in his previous four starts this year heading to Fort Worth – a place where he finished T10 on his last visit in 2017. Has one other top 10 in six starts here. Ranks 6th SG: Tee to green, 12th SG: Off the tee, 13th driving accuracy, and inside the top 30 on Tour for scoring average, SG: Around the green, GIR and SG: Approach.
Ian Poulter: 33/1
MC last week but was T10 at the RBC Heritage before that – which is one of five top 10s he’s had in 2019 (along with four further top 20s) making him one of the most consistent players on Tour this year. Two top 10s and a T15 here but a MC the last time he teed up in 2016. Ranks 15th for both SG: Around the green and GIR, and 31st for both scoring average and birdie average.
Louis Oosthuizen: 33/1
Finished T60 at last week’s PGA but back-to-back top 10s at the Valspar and WGC before a T29 at the Masters, and comes in tipped to do well after finishing T5 here last year. Ranks 4th SG: Around the green.
Scott Piercy : 40/1
Back to back top-3s at the AT&T Byron Nelson and RBC Heritage before a T41 at the PGA Championship. MC here last year but T7 in 2017. Ranks 8th GIR, 17th Driving accuracy, 24h scoring average and 27th birdie average on the PGA Tour this season.
Rory Sabbatini : 50/1
T5-T18-T10 in his last three starts on Tour – the last being his top five at the AT&T Byron Nelson two weeks ago. Has mixed success here that includes a handful of missed cuts but won in 2007 and finished T20 last year. Ranks inside the top 50 for birdie average, scoring average and SG: Around the green.
