Last updated:
Brooks Koepka set plenty of records on his way to defending the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black: Here’s a full list of everything he achieved this week
• Brooks Koepka has become the first player in history to successfully defend titles at both the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.
U.S. Open : 2017, 2018
PGA: 2018, 2019
• For the week, he ranked 1st in the field for Greens in Regulation, SG: Tee-to-Green and SG: Approah. He also ranked 2nd for both proximity to the hole and SG: Off-the-Tee, and 3rd for driving distance with an average of 304.9 yards.
• He has now won four major titles in his last eight starts – becoming the first player in history to win his first four in less than two years
• He has now tied for the fourth-most major wins before turning 30, behind only Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Bobby Jones. As it stands, Koepka is the only player under the age of 30 to hold four majors.
• Koepka is the 5th wire-to-wire PGA Championship winner, but first since Hal Sutton in 1983
• With his victory, he has once again become the World No.1
• He now has the most leads/co-leads after any round in majors since 2016
• After shooting a course record 63 on Thursday, Koepka posted the lowest ever 36-hole total in major championship history on 12-under-par. His 65 on Friday was the lowest second-round score from a player who opened a major with 63.
• His 63 on Friday was the 36th round of 63 in a major.
• Heading in to the weekend, Koepka held a seven shot lead after both 36 and 54 holes- which was the highest ever leading margin after either in the PGA Championship.
• With his win, Koepka is just the second player to successfully defend at the PGA in back to back years in strokeplay era. The other player? Tiger Woods, who did it twice ((1999-2000 and 2006-2007). All time, he is the 7th different player to defend this title.
• He now holds the PGA Championship’s 18-, 36- and 72-hole scoring records. Koepka set the 18- and 36-hole records this week. He established the 72-hole mark in last year’s victory at Bellerive.
