Jim Herman credited Donald Trump for putting advice after claiming his second PGA Tour title at the Barbasol Championship
Jim Herman earned the second PGA Tour title of his career at the Barbasol Open on Sunday with a one stroke victory over playing partner Kelly Kraft.
Herman, who posted a two-under round of 70 to finish at 26-under-par, took advantage of a late collapse from Kraft, who made two bogeys in a row at 16 and 17 to finish in solo second place.
And afterwards, the 41-year-old American was quick to credit his performance on the greens in Kentucky to the new putter he put in play because his regular playing President Donald Trump told him to.
It’s the second time a round with Trump has helped him, having teed up with the President two weeks before his maiden Tour title at the Shell Houston Open in 2016.
“I think I need to see him again here sometime soon,” said Herman, who before his victory had missed 17 of his previous 20 cuts. “The weekend prior, playing golf with the president, he motivates me.
“He puts me in a good spot. I don’t know what it is about him, but he gets me going in the right direction in golf. I took his advice and put a new putter in play and couldn’t have putted any better this week.”
