AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open: Find out who to back and how to watch

This week marks the fifth edition of the tri-sanctioned AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open between the European, Sunshine and Asian Tours, but just the third time the event will be staged at The Heritage Course.

Last year, Kurt Kitayama gained the first European Tour win of his career with a two stroke victory at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at Four Seasons, but won’t be returning to defend his title.

Thomas Pieters: 10/1
Teeing up for the first time in this event after a T6 at the DP World Tour Championship, which was Pieters’ fourth top 10 of 2019 (including a victory at the D+D Real Czech Masters). It followed a T17 at the Turkish Airlines Open and T30 at the Nedbank. 

Thomas Detry: 12/1
With two top 10s in his last four starts Detry is on a good run, and is also making his debut here this week. Despite coming close on several occasions this season, still looking for his first win on the European Tour. 

George Coetzee: 16/1
Coetzee has had a successful time in this contest at both venues, adding a T9 (’17) and T28 (’18) to his 2015 victory. He recently claimed the Sunshine Tour’s Vodacom Origins Final, before back to back top-30s at both the Nedbank Golf Challenge and Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Romain Langasque: 18/1
Finished T23 in this contest last year and 3rd in 2017 when it was held at the Heritage Course, making him a great player to keep your eye on this week. The Frenchman is still searching for his maiden European Tour win, recently finishing T9 at the Turkish Airlines Open before a T30 at the Nedbank and DP World Tour Championship win in Dubai. 

Justin Harding: 20/1
Fresh from his T7 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, which was his seventh top 10 of 2019 – including his victory at the Qatar Masters. He’ll also come in with confidence having finished 4th in this event last year, but missed the cut at this venue in 2017.

Zander Lombard: 20/1
Back to back top 10s at the Nedbank and Alfred Dunhill Championship in his last two starts on Tour, which followed a T17 at the Turkish Airlines Open. He’s clearly in form, struggling only on the final day of the Dunhill, which he called a learning experience. The only drawback is that he’s missed the cut on both occasions (both courses) when he’s teed up here previously. 

Christiaan Bezuidenhuit: 22/1
T15 in this competition last year, although it was at a different golf course. Comes to Mauritius after a T12 at the DP World Tour Championship before a missed cut at last week’s Dunhill Championship.
