The BMW Championship heads to Chigaco this week for the second event of the FedEx Playoffs: Here’s how to watch, and who to back

Medinah is the host this week, the course infamous for Europe’s Ryder Cup ‘Miracle at Medinah’ triumph. Of that victorious team, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter are all competing this week, and are sure to be inspired by the memories of that fateful Sunday.

It’s the last event players outside of the Top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings can use to get themselves in to the Tour Championship next week at East Lake, meaning it’s a big week for the likes of Jordan Spieth – who needs a top 10 finish to get in to the final event of the season.

BMW Championship: Betting Tips

Brooks Koepka: 8/1
The current FedEx Cup leader finished T30 last week after a torrid finish to his front nine at Liberty National on Sunday, but it followed a win at the WGC FedEx St Jude and T4 at The Open. Ranks 4^th scoring average, 8^th birdie average, 9^th SG: Tee to green, 10^th GIR, 13^th SG: Approach and 15^th SG: Off the tee.

Rory McIlroy: 8/1
McIlroy just recorded his second consecutive top 10 – and 13^th of the year – at The Northern Trust, and returns to Medinah searching for his third win of the year . He won the 2012 version of this event. Sits third in FedEx Cup. Ranks 1^st for scoring average, SG: Off the tee and SG: Tee to green, 2^nd for birdie average, 11^th SG: Approach, 20^th SG: Around the green and 22^nd for SG: Putting. 

Jon Rahm: 10/1
Arugbaly the most in form player of the moment, Rahm hasn’t finished worse than T11 in his last six starts, which includes a victory, a runner-up finish and a T3 last week – a tournament which he briefly led during the back nine. Sits 5^th in the FedEx standings. Ranks 2^nd SG: Off the tee, 6^th birdie average, 7^th scoring average and 9^th SG: Tee to green.

Justin Thomas: 14/1
Since an initially underwhelming return from a wrist injury, Thomas has been incredibly consistent, going T9-T11-T12-T12 in his last four starts – the latest T12 at last week’s Northern Trust. 15^th in the FedEx standings. Ranks 1^st birdie average, 2^nd for both SG: Approach and SG: Tee to green, 5^th for GIR and 8^th for scoring average. 

Justin Rose: 16/1
The reigning FedEx Cup champion has been the runner-up in this event in both of the last two years, and heads to Medinah after a T10 last week. Hasn’t finished worse than T220 in his last five starts anywhere. Ranks 2^nd SG: Putting and 6^th for scoring average.

Patrick Cantlay: 18/1
Cantlay recorded his second T12 in a row last week, his third top 15 in his last four starts. He also has five top 10s and a win this year, and currently is 6^th in the FedEx Cup. Ranks 2^nd Scoring average, 5^th birdie average and SG: Tee to green, 7^th SG: Around the green, 15^th for both SG: off the tee and SG: Around the green, and 18^th for SG: Putting.

Webb Simpson: 20/1
Simpson followed up back to back runner-up finishes with a T18 last week, and hasn’t finished worse than a T30 at The Open since the Valspar at the end of March, which includes four top 10s. 11^th in the FedEx standings. Ranks 3^rd scoring average, 10^th SG: Approach, 11^th SG: Around the green, 13^th SG: Putting and 14^th SG: Tee to green.

Adam Scott: 25/1
A brilliant final round left Adam Scott with a top-five finish at Liberty National, displaying the same form that saw him record two top 20s followed by three top 10s before a MC at The Open and T40 at the WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational. Currently 14 in the FedEx Standings. Ranks 4^th for both SG: Approach the green and SG: Tee to green, 6^th for SG: Around the green, 9^th for birdie average and 11^th for scoring average.

Patrick Reed: 25/1
Fresh off his seventh PGA Tour win and in-form, Reed has had three top 10s, a T12 and two top-25s in his last six starts and will be hoping to push on with his momentum. Second in FedEx Standings. Ranks 9^th SG: Around the green and 23^rd for Scoring average.

Jordan Spieth: 33/1
Spieth needs a top 10 at Medinah if he wants to make sure he doesn’t miss out on the Tour Championship for a second year in a row, but put some Sunday demons to rest at Liberty National with a final round 67. He ranks 2^nd for SG: Putting, 12^th birdie average, 21^st SG: Around the green and 29^th for Scoring average on PGA Tour so just needs to have a good week off the tee. Sits 44^th in FedEx standings. 

Ian Poulter: 55/1
If there’s any player whose going to be inspired by a return to Medinah it’s Europe’s Ryder Cup postman, and he comes to the BMW Championship on the back of top 10s at both the Wyndham Championship and The Northern Trust. Hoping to make it to East Lake for the first time. Ranks 23^rd SG: Putting and inside the top 35 for both Scoring average and birdie average. 

Jason Kokrak: 60/1
With a T12 at the Northern Trust and T6 at the Wyndham, Kokrak is a good outside bet this week. Ranks 6^th SG: Approach, 13^th SG: Off the tee, 15^th for SG: Tee to green and 32^nd for scoring average.
