Anne van Dam earns Solheim spot as Europe’s top eight automatic qualifiers confirmed

Anne Van Dam sealed her spot as the sole rookie qualifier in Europe’s Solheim Cup Squad this September with a top 10 at the Women’s Scottish Open on Sunday. 

Catriona Matthew’s Solheim Cup squad is nearing completion after the eight automatic qualifiers for Europe’s team to face the United States at Gleneagles were confirmed at the end of the AIS Women’s Scottish Open on Sunday.

Taken from a combination of three players from the Solheim points list and five from the World rankings, the eight automatic qualifiers feature seven players who already have Solheim Cup experience, and one rookie: Four-time Ladies European Tour winner Anne Van Dam.

Carlota Ciganda gained her spot at the top of the Solheim Cup points – earned during the qualifying period, along with Caroline Hedwall and rookie Anne Van Dam, who secured her place in the squad with a T6 finish at Renaissance. 

From the World Rankings, five players qualified: Charley Hull, Georgia Hall, Azahara Munoz, Caroline Masson and Anna Nordqvist. 

Matthew will announce her four wild card picks on Monday, August 12.
