Masters 2019: The best stats from round 2

A record number make the cut, Phil reaches a Masters milestone, and an amateur tops the driving distance stats on day two

• A record number (65 out of 87) players made the cut for the weekend at the Masters: The previous record was 64 in 1966.

• Play was suspended during the afternoon for a short time. It was the first time that play had been stopped at the Masters since 2005.

• Francesco Molinari scored just his second ever round in the 60s at Augusta, and best ever, during a five-under 67. He also became the first Italian to ever lead/co-lead the Masters after any round.

• World No.1 Justin Rose became just the second player at the top of the rankings to miss the cut at the Masters in the last 20 years. Martin Kaymer was the other, in 2011.

• Phil Mickelson reached a career milestone: He became just the 20th player in the history of the Masters to reach 100 career rounds at Augusta. He’s currently three shots back on four-under-par.

• Five players finished in a tie at the top of the leaderboard on day two at seven-under-par. It’s the most at the halfway point in tournament history. All five have won major titles

• 22 players enter the third round at or within four strokes of the lead – second most in Masters history. Only the wild 2012 Masters had more (23).

• Xander Schauffele shot the low round of the day, a seven-under 65, to finish just one shot behind the leaders on six under par.

• The four par-fives were the easiest four-holes on the golf course on Friday.

• Xander Schauffele and Keegan Bradley led the field in birdies on day two with eight, with Schauffele’s count for the week now up to 13 – two better than anyone else

• Tiger Woods, Bernhard Langer and Charles Howell III topped the stats for greens in regulation during the second round, hitting 16/18. Thorbjorn Olesen has the best accumulative stats in that category with 30/36.

• For the second day in a row Langer was also the most accurate off tee, hitting 13/14 fairways – as did Kyle Stanley. It takes Langer’s percentage up to 89.29% of fairways hit for the week.

• Amateur Devon Bling averaged 320 yards on Friday, which was 2 yards further than Tony Finau, who tops the stats with an average of 318 yards for both days.

• Helped by a chip in on the 13th, Dustin Johnson led the field in putting stats with Keegan Bradley on day 2 with an average of 1.33 putts per hole – Molinari was tied third in this category, and leads (along with Kevin Kisner and Justin Harding) for both days.
