Synopsis

Thunderstorms are rolling across Alabama and northwest Georgia this morning, and will gradually approach Augusta national through the day. This morning, isolated showers and thunderstorms can be expected in the area, but most of this activity passes to the norther and east by 11am.

The storms to the west will weaken some as they move through Atlanta by 10-11am but are expected to hold together andn regenerate upon moving through central and eastern Georgia early this afternoon.

Therefore, rain and thunderstorms are likely to arrive in the Augusta area near or shortly after 3PM. Storms initially  have potential to produce showers. Rainfall is expected to average 0.30-0.60″. Another line of showers and thudnerstorms will be possible around 9-10pm tonight as the front finally pushes through Augusta.

Temperatures warm into the upper 70s to near 80F today, while southerly winds increase to 15-20mph, gusting 25-30mph this afternoon. Higher gusts will be possible with any storms.

Extended Outlook

Monday: Sunny, breezy, cooler and less humid. Winds W-NW 12-18mph, gusting to 25mph.

Could there be a Monday finish?

Play was cancelled for a short time on Friday but the round was completed, yet with heavy rain saturating the course and thunderstorms predicted on Sunday, there is definitely be a chance of a Monday finish if it reaches us before players finish their rounds.

With that in mind, players will all tee off by 9.20am/ 2.20pm (BST).
