Bryson DeChambeau wins 2nd title in a row at Dell Technologies

Bryson DeChambeau followed up his success at The Northern Trust with a second victory in a row at the Dell Technologies on Monday, notching his fourth PGA Tour victory in just 70 starts
Bryson DeChambeau has gone from being just ‘the golf scientist’ to bonified world-class, demonstrated by his performances over the past few months. And they won’t have gone unnoticed by Ryder Cup Captain Jim Furyk.
The 24-year-old has practically forced Furyk’s hand with his second victory in a row and third since June to all but guarantee his Ryder Cup wildcard pick when the announcement comes on Tuesdady, having claimed the top spot in FedEx Cup rankings and a move in to the World’s top 10 for the first time.

“it’s been fantastic,” Bryson said of his recent run. “I’ve been playing incredible golf and hopefully I can continue playing great.
“I can’t believe I’ve done this so early in my career. I’ve been trying to get in the world top 10 for a long time and hopefully I can get closer to world No 1. As concerns the $10 million and winning the FedEx Cup, I am definitely going into the Tour Championship at the top of the standings and if I just keep doing what I’m doing I’ll be tough to beat.”
He also mentioned his prospects of the Ryder Cup, and why he thinks playing alongside Tiger would make for an intimidating pairing.
“I’ve definitely played some great golf and I think I’ve shown that I’m – hopefully – ready for the Ryder Cup team.
“I think that we roll off of each other well,” Bryson said of Tiger. “And what I mean by that is we spur each other on with great shots.
“I think we could be a great team out there, working hard and getting our job done and hopefully like I said a few weeks ago, maybe pushing the pedal to the metal and, I don’t really want to say it, but I think maybe we can potentially intimidate a couple of people out there. I think it would be kind of cool.”
DeChambeau began one shot behind overnight leader and playing partner Abraham Ancer thanks to a third-round 63 while paired with Tiger Woods, and soon topped a congested leaderboard.
But the seventh hole the pair were tied, but birdies at the eighth and ninth holes gave DeChambeau a two-shot lead at the turn, which would then be extended to four thanks to mistakes from the chasing pack.
While Ancer slipped back with four bogeys on his back-nine, bother Justin Rose and Australian Cameron Smith made a late charge, with the latter getting to within one shot of DeChambeau’s lead.
But the new World No.7 was unrelenting, birdieing the par-4 15th to extend his lead once more thanks to a 309-yard 3-wood and a wedge to inside 9 feet. Smith failed to respond, finding the hazard on the par-five 18th and ending with a bogey-six to finish in third behind Justin Rose, three shots behind DeChambeau.
“That was it,” DeChambeau said of his birdie on 15. “That’s how I play golf right there. Make that birdie and come off the green confident.”
His victory should certainly make him confident, as it guarantees he will turn up to the Tour Championships at East Lake with the No.1 spot and a step closer to earning that $10 million winners bonus. However, he still remains quietly cautious about getting too ahead of himself in that regard.
“Look, if a guy wins the first three playoff events, if that was ever to happen, you’re still not guaranteed that you’re going to win the FedExCup,” DeChambeau said.
“So no matter what there’s always a job to do. And every week we start fresh at even par. So this week, it’s funny I say that, this week I’ve got to regroup, sit down, analyze what we could have done better out here and make those changes for next week so I can perform at a better level.”
