Memorial Tournament: Betting Tips
Dustin Johnson: 12/1
DJ has a victory and four other top 10s in 2018, with his latest finish a T17 at The Players Championship. He missed the cut here last year but was 3rd in 2016 and 4th in 2011. Ranks 1st for SG Off The Tee, SG Tee To Green, Longest Drives, Scoring Average and 3rd for Putting average on Tour.
Jason Day: 12/1
With two wins already this season and a T5 in his last start at The Players Championship Day looks a good bet this week, but in 9 appearances here hasn’t finished better than T15. However, he does rank inside the top 5 on Tour for SG: Putting, Scoring Average and SG: Around The Greens.
Justin Thomas: 14/1
Teeing up as World No.1 for the first time, JT finished 4th here last year after two previous missed cuts and comes in with great form. Has two victories this season and hasn’t finished worse than T21 in his last six starts, which includes three top 10s. Ranks in the top 10 on Tour for Scoring Average, Birdie Average, SG Tee To Green, SG Approach The Green, Putting Average, and Scrambling.
Justin Rose: 14/1
Coming off a dominant victory last week, Rose returns to Muirfield Village for the first time since his runner-up finish in 2015. He claimed the title here in 2010 and has four other top 10s in nine starts at Jack’s place. Has had four top 5s in his last eight starts and ranks 2nd for Birdie Average, 3Rd for Scoring Average, 7th for SG Tee To Green and 6th for Putting Average.
Rory McIlroy: 14/1
After leading after 54 holes McIlroy had to settle for 2nd place at Wentworth last week in a season that has had mixed results (which includes a disappointing final round at The Masters and a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational). He does have a good record here, with three top 10s in five starts – including a T4 when he last teed up here in 2016. Ranks 12th for Scoring Average and 10th for Overall Putting Average.
Jordan Spieth: 18/1
A disappointing spell with the putter over his last three tournaments has left Spieth T41-T21-T32 in results that should have been a lot better, but he did finish 3rd at The Masters and T3 at the Houston Open before that. A best result of T8 here in 2015. He is currently 192nd in SG: Putting but given he ranks inside the top 10 on Tour for birdie average, scoring average, SG Tee To Green, SG Around The Green, SG Approach The Green and Greens in Regulation, he could be a real challenger if it goes his way on the greens.
Rickie Fowler: 20/1
Posted four rounds in the 60s to end up T14 at the Fort Worth Invitational and will be hoping to continue that form this week at a place where he’s had two runner-up finishes – the latest being in 2017. Ranks 10th on Tour in Scoring Average.
Tiger Woods: 20/1
A five time winner here, Woods has eight top 5s in 15 starts at Muirfield Village though his last two efforts resulted in T65 and 71st in 2013 and 2015. It’s been an impressive return for Woods, who has two top 10s and two top 12s in his last six starts on Tour, and will be teeing up in his first start since finishing T11 at The Players. Ranks inside top 15 for Scoring Average, SG Total, SG Off The Tee and SG Approach The Green.
Bubba Watson: 33/1
Two wins and two other top 10s in his last six starts. Bubba finished T3 in 2014 and T6 last year at Memorial so could be a good bet here but like Spieth needs a good week on the greens. Ranks 8th in GIR and 6th SG off the tee but 160th in Putting Average.
Marc Leishman: 33/1
Not to be underestimated this week, Leishman hasn’t finished worse than T15 in his last three trips to Memorial. It’s his first time teeing up since he finished 2nd at the AT&T Byron Nelson where he shot a career best 61 to post his third top 10 in six starts. Ranks 9th in Putting Average, 11th in Birdie Average.
Matt Kuchar: 35/1
Kuchar hasn’t been at the top of his game for the past few weeks (going T51-T17-MC-T32), but if there was a course where he could turn it around, it’s this one. In his last 10 starts at Memorial he’s had a victory, six other top 10s and a worse finish of T26.
Patrick Reed: 35/1
Finished T41 in his last start, but other than that the Masters Champ has had a victory and four other top 10s in his last five starts. Has teed up three times at Memorial, finishing T26-T8-T57. Ranks 4th SG: Around The Green, 18th Overall Putting Average and 25th Scoring Average.
Emiliano Grillo: 45/1
Another impressive 3rd place outing at Fort Worth Invitational from Grillo was his third top 10 finish in five starts – and his fifth this year. Has played here on two occasions, finishing T40 and T11. Ranks inside the top 20 on Tour for GIR, Scoring Average, SG: Putting and SG: Approach The Green.
Phil Mickelson: 45/1
Missed the Cut at the Players but was T5 at Wells Fargo the week before, just one of five top 5s he’s posted this year (including his victory at the WGC Mexico). Has missed just one cut in 19 starts at Muirfield Village, with a best finish of T4 in 2006 and T5 in 2010. Ranks 5th SG Total, 1st Putting Average and 4th for Birdie Average.
Charl Schwartzel: 50/1
Has been a constant threat on the leaderboard since his and Louis Oosthuizen’s 3rd place finish at the Zurich Classic, having since gone T9 at Wells Fargo and T2 at The Players Championship. Has a lot of experience here, with nine tournament reps that includes two top 10s and one missed cut.
Adam Scott: 50/1
Needs another good week as he hopes to make it inside the World’s top 50 by 11th June in order to qualify for the US Open. Has three top-5s and missed just one cut in 10 outings at Muirfield Village, and has gone T9-T11-T51 in his last three starts on Tour. Ranks 3rd for GIR and 8th for SG: Tee To Green.
Chesson Hadley: 70/1
Not a great record here (MC-T49), but with six consecutive top 20 finishes on Tour, Hadley has been a consistent performer so far this season and is one not to overlook. Ranks 4th SG: Approach The Green, 9th Birdie Average, 14th Scoring Average and 17th SG: Putting.
