Fort Worth Invitational Preview: Tips and How To Watch

The PGA Tour is at Colonial this week for the Fort Worth Invitational. So who should you back this week, and how can you watch? 

Kevin Kisner returns to the scene of his fourth PGA Tour victory as four of the World’s top 10 tee up in Texas this week. 

Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose and Jon Rahm headline the field this week at the renamed Fort Worth Inivitational (formerly Dean and Deluca Invitiational), with the latter two choosing to miss the European Tour’s flagship tournament – the BMW PGA Championship – in favour of Colonial. 

Meanwhile, Steve Stricker comes back to play on the PGA Tour this week after finishing second in the first Senior Major tournament of the year, and Adam Scott hopes to improve on his World Ranking in a bid to secure a spot in the 2018 US Open field.

Tips: Who To Back 

Jordan Spieth – 8/1
His last two results (T21-T41) have been a reflection of costly errors on the greens, but he was 3rd at both The Masters and in Houston and the rest of his game has been solid. Ranks 2nd for both SG: Tee to Green and GIR, 7th in SG: Approach to Green and 8th for Scoring Average, He also has an incredible record at Colonial: T7-T14-T2-Win-T2.

Jon Rahm – 12/1
Rahm had a disappointing outing at The Players Championship (T69), but did win the Open de Espana is his previous start and finished 4th at The Masters. Was T2 here last year, and currently leads the tour in birdie average, as well as ranking 2nd in SG:Off the tee and 7th in Putting average. 

Justin Rose – 18/1
Rose has three top 10s in his last seven starts and finished T12-T23 in his last two outings at The Masters and The Players. First time teeing up here since 2010 as he has usually favoured the BMW PGA Championship. Ranks 6th Scoring Average, 4th Biride Average, 10th for SG Total and 15th for SG: Putting. 

Rickie Fowler – 18/1
A MC at The Players, but finished 2nd in The Masters and T21 at Wells Fargo. First time here since a MC in 2014, but ranks 13th in GIR, 6th in Scrambling and 10th in Scoring Average (actual) so could still pose a good choice this week. 

Adam Scott – 28/1
In need of making the World’s top 60 to qualify for the US Open, Scott has finished T11-T9 in his last two starts and currently sits at No. 61. Ranks 8th in SG: Tee to green, 4th in GIR and 12th in SG: Approach-The-Green. Winner at Colonial in 2014 but hasn’t teed up since a T55 in 2016. 

Webb Simpson – 20/1
Returns to action following his victory at The Players Championship to a place where he’s finished T5-T3 in his last two starts. Ranks 5th SG: Putting, 3rd in Scoring Av and 1st in Scrambling. 

Jimmy Walker – 28/1
Walker has returned to spectacular form with three top 6 finishes in his last three starts, including a T2 at The Players. Best result here a T10 in 2014 and best stat is 3rd in overall Putting Average. 

Zach Johnson – 33/1
Best result all year was a T5 at the Valero Texas Open, and is teeing up for the first time since a T75 at The Players. However, with two wins and five top 10s in 12 appearances here, he’s a good bet here. Ranks inside top 20 on Tour for scoring average, proximity to the hole, putting average and SG: Approach-The-Green. 

Emiliano Grillo – 40/1
With a T16 and two top 10s in his last four starts, Grillo has momentum – and hasn’t missed a cut since August. He finished T24 in last year’s event and currently ranks 15th for SG: Total, 17th for Driving Accuracy, 18th for GIR and 19th for Total Birdies. 

Bryson Dechambeau – 40/1
Three top 5s in his last five starts, Dechambeau is playing well. Was T37 last week but does rank inside the top 15 on Tour in SG:Off the tee, SG: Tee to Green and Birdie Average.

Chesson Hadley – 50/1
Could be a strong contender this week, having had a top 10 and four other top 20s in his last five starts. Best result of T24 here in 2015, currently ranks 4th SG: Approach-The-Green, 9th Birdie Average, 15th Scoring Average and 4th Putting Average. 

Steve Stricker – 50/1
Finished 2nd in the first Senior Major of the year last week and has two wins on the Seniors Tour already this season. Best result on the PGA Tour in 2018 is T12 at the Valspar, but was T7 last year and was a winner at Colonial in 2009. Hasn’t played enough rounds to qualify for stats. 

Kevin Kisner – 40/1
The defending champion finished T7 at the RBC Heritage and then missed his following two cuts, but he’d finished MC-T56 before his win last year so we aren’t ruling him out. A best result of 2nd at WGC Dell Match Play. Ranks 12th for SG: Putting
