A Military Tribute At The Greenbrier Preview: Betting Tips & How To Watch

The PGA Tour heads to West Virginia this week for A Military Tribute At The Greenbrier; Here’s what you need to know, and who to back. 

Xander Schauffele birdied his final hole to win the Greenbrier last year, and heads back to The Old White TPC course to defend his title this week at the newly named event.

The field is absent of any of the current World’s top 10, but contains a host of former major champions in Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson. 

Mickelson returns for his first start since the ball-stopping incident at the US Open, while Bubba Watson is aiming for his fourth victory of the year after claiming the Travelers Championship title in his last start.

Betting Tips: Greenbrier

Tony Finau: 14/1
Returns to action after a T5 at the US Open, and his previous results (T7-T17) at this event indicate Finau has a strong chance to do well this week. Has gone 5-MC-T13-T57-T21-T10 in his last six starts, and ranks 15th in Scoring Average, 19th in SG: Approach The Green, and 18th in SG: Tee to Green. 

Bubba Watson: 16/1
The only three-time winner on the PGA Tour this year is fresh off a victory at the Travelers, but still his expectation is high: “My expectation is always trying to win,” he said. That being said, still hasn’t cracked a top 10 here yet. Ranks 3rd SG: Off the tee, 7th for GIR and 19th for Scoring Average (actual). 

Phil Mickelson: 16/1
Mickelson was T20 here last year, the best of four appearances at the Greenbrier. Despite a T48 at the incident-filled US Open, Mickelson has seven-top 15 finish and a victory in Mexico in his last 12 starts. Ranks 4th biridie average, 17th scoring average, 2nd SG: Putting and 10th SG: Approach The Green. 

Russell Henley: 16/1
Best result of T6 in 2018 at the Travelers last week, which followed a T25 at the US Open (where he held the lead in the early stages of the touranment). 5th place finishes at the Greenbrier in his last two apperances gives him a good advantage. Ranks 10th Driving Accuracy and 22nd in GIR. 

Webb Simpson: 16/1
The 2018 Players Champion missed the cut in his last start but was T10 in the US Open prior to that, and has a pretty impressive record here – T14 last year and three other top 10s in his last six starts. Ranks 8th for SG: Putting, 6th for Scoring Average and 2nd for Scrambling. 

Xander Schauffele: 20/1
The defending champion has a bit of an odd mix of results in his last five starts, which includes three missed cuts, a T6 at the US Open and a T2 at The Players. No real stand-out stats, but we definitely wouldn’t rule out the defending champ. 

Joaquin Niemann: 25/1
The rookie has barely turned pro and yet has already recorded three top 10s in his last seven starts on the PGA Tour. Finished T17 at the Quicken Loans National last week, and tees up this week for the first time. No stats currently available. 

Brian Harman: 25/1
First time teeing up in four years here, when he missed the cut. This year alone Harman has had five top 10s, including a T6 in the Travelers Championship. Has gone T6-T36-T14 in his last three starts and Ranks 7th SG: Putting, 14th Birdie Average and 19th for Driving Accuracy. 

Ryan Moore: 33/1
Tournament debut at The Greenbrier. Comes in after a MC at The Travelers, but before that had gone T13-T30-MC-T7-T16-T25-T5. Ranks 4th for Driving Accuracy, 16th for SG: Tee to green, 22nd for SG: Total and 25th for Scoring Average. 

Brian Gay: 50/1
Gay doesn’t have a great record here but he does have four top 20s in his last five starts, including a T8 at Quicken Loans National last week. Ranks 12th for driving accuracy, 8th for putting average and 25th for scoring average (actual). 

Anirban Lahiri: 50/1
Tournament debut for Lahiri, who has had a positive run of results in the last few weeks. Lahiri was ranked first on Tour at the Quicken Loans National for SG: Putting last week, and has gone T13-T9 in his last two starts on tour.
