Preview: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
Last updated:
The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am returns this week, boasting a World class field that includes five of the World’s top 10.
Jordan Spieth heads to Pebble Beach in a bid to defend the first of three titles he picked up in 2017, and is joined by Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day.
Spieth won the title with country singer Jake Owen last year, who is one of a number of celebrities again playing this year. He’ll be joined by the likes of Billy Murray, Wayne Gretzky, Alfonso Ribeiro, Kelly Rorhbach, Josh Duhamel, Ray Romano and Carson Daly – to name but a few.
Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy will be pairing up with his father Gerry for his first start at the event, who he regularly plays alongside when he has played at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Find a full list of players in this years pro-am here.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro AM: Who to back
Jason Day: Day hasn’t finished worse than 17th in his last six starts, including winning for the first time since 2015 two weeks ago after beating Alex Noren on the sixth play-off hole.
Dustin Johnson: The World No.1 has made two starts so far in 2018, following up his first victory at the Sentry Tournament of Champions with a T9 in Abu Dhabi.
Jordan Spieth: Defending champion, and despite a MC at last weeks Waste Management Pheonix Open, Spieth has had seven top 10s in his last nine outings.
Rory McIlroy: In McIlroy’s first two events since October he came agonisingly in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, finishing T3 and T2.
Jon Rahm: The World No.2 finished T5 here last year, and with two wins and a runner-up finish in his last five starts he’s in his continued excellence. Was T11 at last week’s Phoenix Open.
Paul Casey: Casey was T9 in his last start in Abu Dhabi, and is teeing up here for the first time at Pebble Beach since 2002. Five top 10s in his eight starts, and hasn’t missed a cut since the 2017 Sony Open.
Pat Perez: A T4 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and two T30s in Abu Dhabi and Dubai during his first three starts of 2018. Top 15s in three of his last four appearances here, and hasn’t finished worse than T34 in his last 12 starts.
Phil Mickelson: Was in the hunt last week, and if he hadn’t double-bogeyed the final hole he would have finished solo 3rd last, but settled instead for T5 with Kuchar. Four time winner at Pebble Beach, finished 2nd here in 2016, 65th last year.
Matt Kuchar: Comes to Pebble Beach following a T5 at the Phoenix Open, where he led WMPO in strokes gained putting. Hasn’t missed a cut since the Shell Houston Open in 2017.
Gary Woodland: Last week’s winner is in excellent form, taking the Phoenix Open title by beating Chez Reavie on the first play-off hole. Prior to that he was T12 at Farmers and T7 at the Sony Open. T5 here last here.
Rafa Cabrera Bello: First start at Pebble, and first PGA Tour start since October at the CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges, where he was T11. T6 in his last start at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
