Tiger Woods hoping to play in The Masters
Last updated:
After an absence where many could only speculate on his physical condition and mental state, Tiger Woods reappeared this morning on Good Morning America to reaffirm his desire to play at Augusta.
Woods is on a tour promoting his new book that talks about his 1997 Masters win – the scene of his first record-breaking major victory as a 21-year-old, and Good Morning America was his first stop.
Augusta is a tournament synonymous with Tiger, and one that means a lot to him. But numerous surgery set-backs have hampered the 41-year-olds career, and having withdrawn with back-spasms from the Dubai Desert Classic in February, his return back to competitive action has remained doubtful.
It is clear that Woods has been hopeful for a return to The Masters 20 years after winning the event, and he took on a putting competition to show that while his appearance at Augusta still may be in doubt – his skills with the flat stick still look good.
Will Tiger play at The Masters?
Woods told Good Morning America: “God, I hope so. I’m trying. I’m trying everything I can do to be able to get back and play. I love that event, it’s meant so much to me in my life. It has so much history and meaning to me that I’d love to get back there.”
“I love that event. It’s meant so much to me in my life. It was the first major that I ever played, back in ’95.
