Fantasy Golf: BMW International Open preview

The European Tour resumes this week with the BMW International Open, as Henrik Stenson returns to the site of his 2016 victory in Munich.
Joining Stenson, Sergio Garcia returns to play on European soil for the first time his major victory at the Masters, while Kaymer and last week’s runner up Tommy Fleetwood also head to Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof fresh from good finishes at the US Open.
But who should be in your fantasy team this week? We’ve had a closer look at the most recent results and stats to help you choose your Fantasy Golf team. All you need to do is make sure you change it by midnight on Wednesday 21st June!

Fantasy Picks: BMW International Open
Past Champions in the field: Henrik Stenson (2016) Pablo Larrazábal (2011, 2015), Fabrizio Zanotti (2014), Ernie Els (2013), and Martin Kaymer (2008)
Sergio Garcia: Fantasy Price £14.5m
Garcia’s was the arguably best player never to have won a major title before he put on his green jacket at Augusta, and yet two months after his Masters triumph it isn’t all that unfeasible that Sergio could win another this year. He hasn’t missed a cut all year, has won twice, and in his last eight tournaments he hasn’t finished worse than T30 – including a T21 at the US Open. He’s also ranked 2nd for scoring average, 2nd for strokes gained off the tee, 3rd for strokes gained tee to green and 8th for greens in regulation.
Henrik Stenson: Fantasy Price £15m
It was a pretty slow start to the season for the Open Champion, and although things have picked up recently he did miss the cut at the US Open. He came close to victory but ended up T3 at the BMW PGA Championship and was T26 at the Nordea Masters. We think Stenson is a bit of a gamble this week, but given that he’s the World No.7 and he’s the defending champion, we’ll leave it up to you to decide if he’s worth the risk.
Martin Kaymer: Fantasy Price £11.5m
Kaymer has broken in to the top 5 twice this season, but he’s been pretty consistent all year. He’s missed just one cut, and given that it’s a home game for Kaymer this week it could be time for his first victory since the US Open in 2014.
Tommy Fleetwood: Fantasy Price £10.5m
Fleetwood has already notched up a victory in 2017 in Abu Dhabi, and if it wasn’t for a disappointing level par final-round at the US Open, he could have made it two. Fleetwood has moved to a career best of World No.21, and given he’s already had two runner-up finishes this year, we’d certainly not advise you to overlook Fleetwood this week.
Bernd Wiesberger: Fantasy Price £11.5m
The four-time European Tour winner comes fresh off a T16 finish at the US Open, and has already picked up a victory this year at the Shenzhen International in April.
Marcel Siem: Fantasy Price £5m
For a low fantasy price pick this week, we reckon Marcel Siem is a great bet. He struggled in the first few months of 2017, but he’s now had two top 10 finishes in his last three starts, and not to mention that he’s playing in his home nation this week.
Rafa Cabrera Bello: Fantasy Price £12m
A T42 at the US Open was preceeded by a T4 at both the Players Championship and the St Jude’s Classic, so it feels like the Ryder Cup star in on the verge of a victory. He’s had a fairly turbulent season so is a bit of a risk, but although out of 16 tournaments this year he’s missed four cuts, he’s also had four top 10s
Pablo Larrazabal: Fantasy Price £8m
He’s a two-time champion at the BMW International Open and although he missed his last cut he’d also had a near win two weeks previous so we feel they cancel each other out. If you’re low on fantasy cash we think Larrazabal may be a good idea. His last five results? Cut – 24 – 3 – 11 – 13
