Fantasy Golf: Dell Technologies Championship
Last updated:
The second stage of the FedEx Cup play-offs heads to TPC Boston for the Dell Technologies this week
Dustin Johnson regained the top position in the FedEx Cup standings with his victory at the Northern Trust last week, where he outlasted Jordan Spieth in a play-off.
DJ said that his game felt back to his pre-Masters best after his fourth win of the year, and given that on the first play-off hole he drove it 341 yards over a lake – we aren’t going to argue with him.

Should YOU use the TP5/TP5x?
There were some pro’s (Ian Poulter, Wesley Bryan in particular) who were quite outspoken about their disappointment the final hole was used as the play-off hole as it became a long-drive contest, but with three more events to come we’re certain there’s going to be a few more show-downs between the World’s top two players before the season comes to a close at the Tour Championship.
Both DJ and Spieth are clearly on form – as they both have been for a good chunk of the year – but who else should you be watching out for this week?
Remember, the D+D Czech Masters is also on this week – so if you’re looking for lower fantasy prices why not look at Thomas Pieters (£11.5m), Martin Kaymer (£11.5m), Jordan Smith (£8.5m)
Fantasy Picks: Dell Technologies
Dustin Johnson: Fantasy Price £15m
Winner last week, and looked every inch like he was back to his best. He won three times in a row earlier this year, and if he plays like he did on Sunday he’ll definitely be up there this week. Had three top 10s at TPC Boston in previous years, and is 1st for strokes gained, 4th for scoring average and currently 1st in FedEx rankings.
Jordan Spieth: Fantasy Price £15m
Had a bit of a struggle on the final day but still posted a one-under 69 on Sunday – it just wasn’t enough to outlast DJ in the play-off. Three victories including The Open this year, and is ranked 1st for approaches to the green, 1st for both scoring and birdie average and 4th for greens in regulation.
Henrik Stenson: Fantasy Price £15m
Last year’s Open Champion struggled at the start of the year, but he has really gained momentum in his last few events – culminating in a victory at the Wyndham Championship and T16 last week. Prior to that he was T13 at the PGA Championship and that was preceeded by a T17 at the WGC Bridgestone and T11 at the The Open. He’s a former FedEx Cup champion who clearly likes this side of the year – the Iceman could definitely be a threat this week. 2013 champion here.
Jason Day: Fantasy Price £15m
Day has turned it up a gear in the last couple of weeks. He finished T6 thanks to a final round 67 at the Northern Trust last week and looked like he’s much closer to the form he had when he won the PGA Championship last year. He was T9 at the PGA Championship, and prior to that had a couple of Top 30s.
Rory McIlroy: Fantasy Price £15m
The Northern Irishman struggled with a series of missed cuts before his Open showing of 4th, but having split with his caddie of nine years, McIlroy returned to the WGC Bridgestone Invitational and finished 5th. He was disappointed with a T22 finish at the PGA Championship and was T34 last week – but he is a two-time winner at TPC Boston
Rickie Fowler: Fantasy Price £14.5m
Fowler has already had a win at the Honda Classic this year and has been pretty consistent all season in every part of his game – with eight top 10 finish in 17 starts (including T6 at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational). T20 last week, and ranked third for total driving, 2nd for scoring average and strokes gained putting, and 1st for sand save percentage and scrambling from the fringe. Won here 2015.
Justin Thomas: Fantasy Price £14m
The 2017 PGA Championship winner has had a phenomenal year. Three victories, a 59, a scoring record at the US Open and victory at the PGA Championship – and not to mention ranking 1st for eagle average, par four average and putting average. Was T6 last week and leads the tour in number of top 10s this year.
Paul Casey: Fantasy Price £13.5m
Casey has knocked on the door plenty of times this year already, particularly in the US Open and The Open, before having at least one really off day. He hasn’t finished worse than 26th in his last 10 starts, which includes six top 10s. His T5 at the WGC Bridgestone Invitaitonal and T13 at PGA Championship was a confident showing from Casey, and he followed it with another T5 at the Northern Trust. Could it be his week?
Louis Oosthuizen: Fantasy Price £13m
Louis is on a bit of a hot streak. He finished his T2 at the PGA Championship with a T10 last week, and has only missed a single cut all year. He was runner-up at TPC Boston in 2012, and was T12 in 2015 and T8 last year – so we think he could be a real factor on the course this week.
Matt Kuchar: Fantasy Price £13m
Kuchar finished T10 last week, and given that he’s had five top 10s and three further top 20s in his last nine starts, he’s very likely to be a challenger again this week. He’s had two top 10s at TPC Boston (in 2013 and 2015).
Jon Rahm: Fantasy Price £12m
Rahm has been a threatening figure all-year, and with a victory on both PGA and European Tours in his rookie year – he doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere fast. Finished T3 last week to move to the World No.5 and 5th in FedEx Cup, and with nine top 10s this year already he’s definitely a good bet with a lower fantasy price than the rest of the players at the top of the World rankings.
If you’re low on fantasy cash, try Xander Schauffele (£7.5m), Harold Varner III (£6.5m), Patrick Cantlay (£6m)
