The best shots from the 2017 Masters

The best shot of the Masters? It’s a difficult one to call with so many to choose from, but it seems only fitting to credit several of Sergio’s final round as he won his first major – at a course he once said didn’t suit him.

It was a case of overcoming past heartache in major championships, and Garcia did it in style. He rallied from two shots behind on the 14th tee to end up with a putt to win on the 18th, resulting in a play-off and his first major victory. From his par-save on the 13th to the eagle on the 15th and his nerves-of-steel approach shot to the 18th, Garcia was both a worthy and popular champion.

Following Garcia, there were five incredible hole-outs during the 81st edition of the Masters, including a hole in one from Matt Kuchar on the 16th hole to move to five-under for the tournament on Sunday and end up T4.

Russell Henley’s slam dunk was so impressive it ruined the entire edge of hole, and greenkeepers had to quickly recut it as closely as they could to the original position.

Hadwin channelled a links-style shot as he kicked off Thursday’s best shots with a hole-out from off the green with his hybrid. Who needs a putter or a wedge?

Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and William McGirt produced some of the best recovery shots of the tournament, with none being better than Spieth’s Arnold-Palmer-inspired hit from the trees.

It was the first Masters without the King, and there were several nods to Palmer throughout the week. On this particular shot Spieth tried to play like Arnie would have wanted, and asked his caddie Michael Greller “What would Arnie do, Mike?

Also in the running for best shots from the week? These three superb hole-outs from Martin Kaymer, Jon Rahm and Yuta Ikeda.

Kaymer had the run of the tournament during Sunday’s round, birdieing 10,11,12,13 and 15, while rookie Jon Rahm put in an impressive performance for his first time around Augusta National – finishing T27.

And the best shot that DIDN’T go in? It has to go to Boom Boom. Fred Couples was a delight to watch this year at the Masters, proving you shouldn’t rule out any past Masters Champions at Augusta.
