Fantasy Golf Preview – BMW Championship

Is Rory ready to go again?

If I had a pound for everytime someone asks this question in the build up to the BMW Championship I would be able to retire a very rich man.

Winning comes as a habit for McIlroy when he is on top of his game, so don’t be surprised to see the Deutsche Bank Champion in the frame again this weekend especially if he can pick up where he left off on the greens and prove he is finally starting to put his putting problems to bed.

Jason Day has struggled off the tee in recent weeks and it will be a tough ask for the defending champion to recover to enjoy victory this weekend and the stats prove his driving simply hasn’t been good enough of late – n his last five starts he’s ranked 78th, 79th, 72nd, 79th and 69th for driving accuracy and it certainly cost him success at the Barclays.

US Open winner, Dustin Johnson stands a good chance of victory this weekend, his game ticks off a lot of the boxes at Crooked Stick and we think if he gets off to a good start then he will take some chasing.

Russell Knox has a point to prove after only achieving an armchair brief for the upcoming Ryder Cup and again you would be daft the write the Scot off, he did a lot of things right last week and was only out of the mix because of a few silly mistakes. Cut out the errors and it could be his weekend, no ideal for Darren Clarke.

Patrick Reed has started the last few events but not been able to see them through and if he can hold firm under pressure after a decent start he will give himself a great chance and after some poor final rounds it is safe to say he will be looking to prove a point.

Our four top picks for this weekend:

Rory McIlroy £15M

Patrick Reed £14.5M

Russell Knox £12M

Ryan Moore £9.5M
